My Testimony:

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. For some of my childhood I spent my time in different foster homes, And at my second last house, I remember throwing fits, yelling at everything and did some bad things. But then Sarah (My mom now) reached out to the foster home we were staying at, she was apparently fostering my other 2 little sisters. A playdate was set and before we knew it we were being moved over to her care. That's where I lived with my 3 younger sisters for maybe 3 years until we got adopted by her in 2020. And that's where I got introduced into Christianity, I got given my first bible, went to church and prayed. I was genuinely happy.

We still went on visits with our biological mom often as we could, and when she wouldn't show up I started to grow resentment towards her but that all started to fall apart when a few months later, maybe a couple days after Christmas we got told by my older sister that my biological mom had passed away on Christmas. My whole world started to fall down.

At this time I struggled with anxiety and I had sleep paralysis, it got so bad to the point that I couldn’t sleep in my own bed and I would find things like gaming, which kept me up for most of the night. I would sleep on couches because they helped me stay up. My mind was a constant mess and my faith was no longer mine, but rather my parents. I would find excuses not to go to church and I started being performative in my relationship with Jesus.

It was like this till I turned 18, 1 night after gaming I sat down on the couch. I prayed for the first time in a while, wanting it all to end then I closed my eyes. But this time it was different, I was in this black room and long story short the enemy showed up and was telling me all these things. It wasn't until I looked up and saw this light at the end of the tunnel and this voice calling my name. I trusted it and ran towards it.

Then I was in this garden, I looked around and saw little animals running around. There was a river and I looked down at myself and I saw that I was wearing a white dress with a flower crown in the reflection. I started running around happy until a blue butterfly caught my attention and then I heard that same voice and turned towards where I heard it but saw nothing. Then I felt His presence around me. And i knew for a fact that this was Jesus and I fell down on my knees. He called me His daughter and so much more!! I was so happy, but then He said I had to go back and that He still had plans for me. I didn't want to go back because I didn’t wanna go back to my life but before I could say anything, He said I wouldn't struggle with sleeping anymore (And I don't anymore hallelujah!!) and that when I woke up I should say yes. Then I woke up. Looked at the clock and before I even had a moment to doubt what happened. My phone went off playing ‘You are loved’ and I started tearing up because everything that has happened was real. Later that day my older brother came down and talked about Eston college, I knew this was what God was talking about so I started looking into the college.

During my time there I took an empower course which really helped shape my relationship with Jesus and I made my parents faith my own. One of the classes I took in my first year was about missions, and I heard Him telling me to go but I pushed it away. Then a family friend came down from a mission trip and I heard the same voice telling me to go, this time I didn’t ignore it and I looked up YWAM’s until my eyes landed on the one in Louisville. I applied. I got accepted. I started working towards that goal. Then things fell through at the end. I was willing to wait for the next DTS in January but as I laid in bed, I still had that urge to go but I wasn't sure what to do because I had just missed the deadline for the other one. Then my mom found one that was still open and accepting students, so I looked up the Boston one and I liked how it had all the creative aspects of it so I prayed then I applied and got accepted rather quickly. And here I am attending YWAM in Boston!! I am excited to see where He will take me on this journey.
