Orientation and first week of class is officially done!! For those of you who don't know, I have been attending Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Boston a bit over a week now! It is a 6 month program that trains and puts people's faith into practice. I choose this YWAM a bit last minute but I did like all the creative aspects to it so I jumped right into applying and got accepted right away! The first 3 weeks I will be doing lectures that will help train me up for the outreach phrase. Then for the last 3 months will be outreach. We will be traveling across the states for 8 weeks doing an encounter tour and then the last few weeks we will fly out to to another country to preach, I am not sure where yet though.
I was a little late for orientation week but I still got there on the second last day, and was able to meet everyone and they are all so lovely!! Our first week of class was amazing. The topic was on 'Fear of the Lord' For me I never really understood the meaning of what that means. Like How could I fear a loving father?? But by the the end of the week it all came together. What stood out to me was when our teacher would talk about the difference about fear of men and fear of the Lord and what that actually means, it had me really deep in thought about some things and had me feeling convicted in some areas of my life. She had us play a song called 'See you right' by MBL while reading the book of Luke chapter 7, where the woman was wiping Jesus's feet with her hair as her tears kept falling down. I vividly saw the scene and I couldn't stop myself from crying as well.
Over the week i got to meet my classmates and the staff leading and they are all so kind, As someone who likes being alone, I have been going out more and doing activities with them. Whether we stay inside playing card games, talking and laughing around the dinner table or even going to the fair. Which by the way, first time going to one and it was fun! But I did like getting to know more and more about them and I'm excited to see what God has in store for us over the next couple of months!
We haven't officially gone into our elective classes yet but this coming week we are starting it. I choose the music elective which I am kinda nervous about but mostly excited for!! There was also an option to do a second elective class since there are only a little bit of students... so I might do media as my second one.
On Friday we went over what outreach would look like and what to expect. We went over what is encounter and the story behind it, then we went over lines. The Encounter tour is a play about Jesus, mixed with dance and worship. This week we will start auditioning for roles and I'm so excited for it!!! I will send more about it in my next newsletter!
